A little history

Toward the end of the 18 th century, Danbury became known as “The Hat City” due to its prosperous hat industry. At one point, there were 56 hat shops operating in Danbury that were exporting thousands of handmade fur hats each year. The city takes pride in this thriving industry and even has a derby hat on the city seal. Although Danbury is still known as “The Hat City,” its industry has since changed significantly, including wonderful publishing, pharmaceutical, engineering and high-technology industries.

Danbury today

Danbury has a relatively mild climate with winter months ranging in the 30s and 40s and the summer months ranging in the 70s and 80s.
